Lift Kits in Massachusetts
Massachusetts limits vehicles at or under 10,000 lb GVWR to 2 inches of change from the manufacturer's height — except four-wheel-drive vehicles, which get a formula: maximum mechanical lift in inches equals wheelbase times wheel track divided by 2,200.

What the law says
For qualifying four-wheel-drive vehicles, tire outside diameter may also increase by up to that same figure, and the combined mechanical plus tire lift may not exceed the sum of the two allowances. This is the most mathematically specific lift rule in the country.
