IS MY MOD LEGAL?

Lowering in Mississippi

Conditional

Mississippi sets no minimum height — but since July 1, 2024 the squat law cuts both ways: the front fender may not sit 4 or more inches higher than the rear, which outlaws rear-only lowering. An even drop remains unregulated.

What the law says

Miss. Code Ann. § 63-7-105 (created by HB 349, effective July 1, 2024; full penalties since January 27, 2025) makes it unlawful to drive a passenger vehicle whose suspension, frame, or chassis alteration leaves the front fender 4 or more inches higher than the rear fender, measured vertically through the wheel centerline to the fender bottom. Vehicles with factory high-clearance fenders for suspension articulation are exempt. Fines run $100, $200, and $300 with a 12-month license suspension on a third offense within five years. No statute sets a minimum ride height for an even drop.
