What the law says

Front side windows: minimum 70% VLT. Rear side and back windows: minimum 35% VLT. Darker limits apply behind the driver on some larger vehicles. Law change: aftermarket front-side tint at 70% VLT or lighter has been legal since October 9, 2021 (2021, c. 185) — before that, any front tint required a medical waiver. A 2024 change (c. 48, effective September 12, 2024) expanded the medical-permit path, which allows darker tint (RSA 266:58-b).
